Local Scouts are third in Helme Shield

COMPETING in the North West Lancashire Boy Scouts Association annual swimming gala for the Helme shield at the Saul St. Baths, Preston, on Saturday the Lancaster team gained third place, two points behind the winners, Barrow.  Blackpool, with 18 points, was second.  The shield was presented to the Barrow team by County Commissioner J. Dodds Drummond of Lancaster.

Local winners included: Johnson, senior three lengths free style ; Gunson, Scouts one length back stroke  and Edmondson, seniors two lengths back stroke.  Lancaster won the Scout Squadron and was second in the Scout senior squadron. Gunson gained third place in the Scouts one length breast stroke and he was also third in the senior diving. Third in the Scouts diving was Dupoy.
