SCOUTS’ CAMP
The 12th Lancaster St. George’s Scouts have returned from a week’s camping at Warton, where they spent a happy and profitable time. They were fortunate in the weather, and only had two days’ rain. Scoutmaster E. Line was in charge, and Mr. H. Slinger was also in camp. Some excitement was caused by an attempt of two tramps to break into the camp. No harm was done, but after this visit sentries were posted each night. The Scouts had a sports day on Wednesday, and they also entertained St. George’s Girl Guides on Tuesday.
The 7th Lancaster Boy Scouts (Parish Church) returned on Saturday after a week’s camp at Troutbeck. They were looking happy and bronzed, and report a clean sheet as regards accidents and illness. They commenced the week in fine weather, but two days of heavy rain came later and compelled them to sleep in a barn. The rain also interfered with the cooking arrangements, to the depreciation of the menus. But this was a small drawback to a highly enjoyable experience. On Thursday there were sports and about a hundred visitors, members of the families of the forty boys and a few friends, came as spectators.
