WADDECAR CAMP

The camp is owned by the North West Lancashire Boy
Scouts covering 18 acres of woods and camping fields bordering
on the River Brock at Wood Top Farm. Map Reference 561441,
Sheet 94.
INFORMATION
Postal Address. Waddecar Camp, Wood Top Farm, Goosnargh, Preston.
Permission to Camp. Notice must be given to the Secretary,
Mr. W. Fazackerley, 18 Otway Street, Preston, by all
Scouts wishing to use the camp, giving dates and probable
numbers.
Individuals or single patrols camping for Saturday and
Sunday during the season do not need to give notice.
Permits. Tne usual “permission to camp” permits issued by District Commissioners are required. Short Camp Permits for week-ends and P.C. forms through the normal channels.
Fees. Three pence each person per night, to be paid to the Warden.
Facilities. There is an ablutions hut on the site and a Troop hut for use during bad weather.
The Gregson Memorial Chapel is available for services in camp.

Timber. An ample supply of timber is available at the camp
for fires.
Fallen timber can be collected from the woods. NO
STANDING TIMBER MUST BE CUT.
SCOUTERS MUST RESTRICT THE USE OF AXES
TO THEIR OWN CAMP SITE.
Catering. There is no providore on the site. Goods can be ordered and will be delivered to the site by:
Mr. Singleton, Eccles Moss, Whitechapel,
or
The Post Office Store, Inglewhite.
Wood Top Farm is not a dairy farm, the farmer will obtain milk which is ordered in advance by post to Mr.
T. Askew, Wood Top Farm, Goosnargh, Preston, or ordered verbally on arrival for the following days.
Equipment. There is no equipment available at the camp. For organised Training Courses, etc., requiring the use of pioneering gear, application must be made to Mr. H. Moon, 71 Collins Road, Bamber Bridge, Preston.
Supervision. There is a Warden on the site each week-end from Easter to October.
Offers of assistance as working parties are invited any time of the year and should be made to Mr. F. Shufflebottom, Camp Bailiff, 138 Havelock Street, Preston.
Cubs. The facilities do not allow for Cub Camping or Pack Holidays. Organised day visits are welcome.
Telephone. It is hoped to have a ‘phone at the camp this season.
Nearest public phone—Public box near Whitechapel School. Hospital—Preston Royal Infirmary.
The Camp is controlled by a Committee appointed by the County Scout Council.
