For the past couple of years some Groups have between them entered over 10 teams in this event. The feedback I have received suggests that the Groups enter enjoy the event and raise quite a lot of money through sponsorship. There is also a knock on potential in that:-
- the money raised can count as fundraising for the purposes of a Sharpe Bequest grant application, the closing date for which has traditionally been around the end of June, although it may be earlier next year.
- if the Group is registered for Gift Aid, the individual sponsors’ payments can, if they are UK tax payers, count as donations for the purposes of a Gift Aid tax repayment claim, boosting the amount donated by 25%.
