Frank Colclough Wright was born in Oldham on 4 Dec 1895, an only child of George Wright, an Engineers Pattern Maker, and Agnes Colclough.

In the 1901 Census the family is living at 40 Hardy Street, Oldham. They are at the same address in the 1911 Census where Frank is recorded as a Textile machinery fitter apprentice.

From Royal Air Force, Airmen’s service records Frank enlisted 3 Dec 1915 having a previous engagement in HM Forces at 3/ELancs FA from 12 May – 2 Dec 1915. He was promoted Corporal 1 Sep 1917, Act Sgt 1 Mar 1918 and transferred to RAF Sgt Mech 1 Apr 1918.  He went to the RAF Reserve 12 Mar 1919. His civilian occupation was listed as Fitter at Asa Lees & Co., Oldham.

According to his record Frank was 5 feet 4 1/2 inches tall with chest 34 inches.

In 1939 Frank is living at 50 Stuart Avenue, Morecambe with his wife Edith Penty whom he married in 1921. He is a Managing Director Clothing Clerk and a Special Constable.

Extract from the minutes of the Morecambe Executive Committee dated 27 March 1945 “At the conclusion of this discussion the Chairman (Mr. P. Hughes), referred  to the fact that this was the last Executive meeting our A.D.C. (Mr. F. C. Wright) would be attending in an Official Capacity. He spoke of the time Mr. Wright had spent with him on Scout work, thanked him for all his Services  and wished him a happy retirement. “

According to the minutes of the Morecambe Executive Committee dated 11 September 1945 “A letter from Mr. F. C. Wright was read in which he offered  to present to the L.A. a Silver Cup, as a memento of his days as A.D.C.. He stated that he wished  it to be competed for annually either by individual or Group effort. He left it to the Executive to decide whether it should  be for Cub competition or Scout, but when once decided  he wished it to remain so for always. After some discussion it was decided that it be accepted for Annual Cub Competition for Cub work, and to be for Group effort and not individual effort.”

In the Visitor Year Book 1960 (published by the Morecambe & Heysham Visitor newspaper) there is an entry under “Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths (Morecambe Sub-District) as follows:- Local Registrar: F. C. Wright, 33 Cheapside, Morecambe, Tel. 720.”

Frank died in 1972.
