In Lonsdale we promote two different water safety qualifications. Any leaders taking groups of young people on or near water is advised to complete one of these courses.
If you lead boat-based activities you should do the BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course (FSRT).
If you lead activities on a river or canal bank, or a lake shore, or a beach, you may like to take the RLSS National Water Safety Management Programme course (NWSMP). Taking this is not a requirement, but following the group safety at water margins document is (POR 9.48).
