Re: Appointment of a Group Scout Leader – 16th Morecambe.
I am delighted to inform you that I have appointed Andrew Blenkinship as the Group Scout Leader at 16th Morecambe Scout Group following an open nomination search process. Andrew will be known to all of you as a Beaver Scout Leader and through his long involvement with the group both as a young person and an adult member. Andrew’s passion for Scouting, can-do attitude, knowledge of the group and determination means that he is well placed to build on the many existing strengths of the group.
Andrew and I have met to discuss the priorities for the group moving forward and agreed the following objectives for the initial period of his appointment:
• Review the training needs of all adults in the group, and support them through the appropriate training.
• Andrew to complete his MSS (GSL) Training
• Hold regular Group Leaders meetings (separately from the Group Executive Committee)
• Review and develop a Group Development Plan.
I will be working with Andrew in the coming weeks to discuss ways in which the District can support in these areas. 16th Morecambe Scout Group, through the hard work of all the adults involved, offers excellent Scouting to young people in Torrisholme and beyond. The group is in a strong position to continue to develop and grow, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all, for all that you do, to ensure the group is so successful. I’ve really enjoyed investing some of your new Beavers this year, seeing the Cubs at their sausage sizzle, attending your group family camp and attending some of your meetings. I am excited about what the future holds for the group and I’d like to remind you that the District are committed to supporting the group in any way that we can.
