Collecting Waste Paper

Lancashire Daily Post 14 October 1939

SIR. – The Boy Scouts of Lancaster, at the request of the Paper Control Board, are arranging to collect waste paper in the city.

Commencing today (Saturday) and continuing in the coming weeks Scouts will call on householders for newspapers, magazines, books, wrapping paper, cardboard, etc. If the waste paper is tied in bundles in its various categories, time will be saved in collecting. Business firms who have waste paper to dispose of, are asked to communicate with District Scoutmaster A. D. Sharpe, 107, Ashton-drive, Lancaster, advising him of the hours when it will be convenient to collect.

Economy in waste paper will be necessary throughout the war. All are asked to save waste paper; it will be regularly and systematically collected by the Boy Scouts. –
Yours, etc.,
