It’s all happening at our two splendid Activity Centres!
At SilverHelme work has commenced on preparing the ground for the long-awaited replacement toilet block.
This is what we are replacing: mmm!
This very day (23 August) demolition has taken place. The building has served us well for many years but some are not sad to see the end of it!
As you may be aware the site is presently closed for camping whilst this work is carried out. It is hoped to improve on the scheduled deadline of 31st December 2017 – watch this space.
Plans are also in hand to provide Broadband on the sites through the B4RN initiative. We will be looking for volunteers at the appropriate time to help dig a connection trench to the network. If you have been one of those who has cursed the lack of signal in the past now will be your opportunity to do something about it!
Significant improvements have also been taking place at Littledale:
Among other things there is now a washing up station and pioneering store.
– although when your humble correspondent visited the site today the sheep patrol appears to have taken over!
How fortunate we are in Lonsdale to have two such magnificent Scouting assets, all through the generosity of Tom Helme – who was he you might ask?
Leaders PLEASE take advantage of the sites and put the OUT well and truly into your ScOUTing. But book early to avoid disappointment; And, don’t forget to submit your Nights Away notification if you’re staying overnight.
