Frederick Wiggans

Frederick Wiggans was born 11 Apr 1891 in Ramsbottom, Lancashire son of James Wiggans & Margaret Sumner, married 25 Apr 1868 St Andrew, Leyland. In 1911 the family is living at 66 Gowan Lea, Scotforth, Lancaster, Frederick is listed as a cabinet maker.

In 1939 Fred is living at Rose Terrace, Slyne, Lancaster. He is a Cabinet Maker now Antique Furniture Repairer. He married Margaret Hewitson 1915 at St. Luke’s, Skerton and had a son Fred in 1919.

Newspaper reports dated 8 Mar 1912 record “Mr. Wiggins, Scoutmaster of the 6th Troop (2nd Wesley) has resigned;” and 20 Feb 1931 “A whist drive in connection with the Slyne and Hest Bank Scouts and Wolf Cubs was held at the residence of Mr. T. Mawson, “Applegarth”, Hest Bank on Wednesday night. Prizes were won by Miss Wilson, Mrs. W. Foster, Mr. Walker, Mrs. Barrow; Mr. Wiggins Scoutmaster was MC.” – a come back? It was, see this article

Frederick died in 1964 in the Lancaster area.
