THE GUARDIAN, FRIDAY, 29 JULY, 1938
Sir. – I am taking this opportunity of
thanking all the public in Carnforth
and Warton districts, who responded so
generously to the door-to-door appeal
undertaken by our collectors on behalf
of the Headquarters National Appeal
which has in consequence enabled us
to forward the sum of £9 14s. 2d. from
this district for the Boy Scout Head-
quarters fund. The amount was more
than I ever anticipated and I am very
grateful to all the subscribers and
collectors. If each district in the
country had responded as well as Carn-
forth and Warton have done the
amount desired by headquarters would
have been by now more than achieved
instead of which it is still below the
half-way mark. – Yours etc.,
E.T.WHALEN, Group
Scoutmaster 1st Carnforth
