Lancaster Guardian 14 April 1944:
4TH LANCASTER BOY SCOUTS.
A new Senior Scout Patrol (Capt. Scott) comprising seven boys, which was formed during recent months, is reported to be making very promising headway. Regular weekend camping at the “Applehouse” den has provided much useful training in pioneering, bridge building, physical activities, etc., which make the Senior Scout just a bit tougher than is junior member. High proficiency morse and semaphore signalling have occupied much of the time indoors, and a field telephone system is being perfected for the next Association wide game.
