Nurse Bride of Scout Master

Miss Audrey Thexton, SRN, a staff nurse at Leeds General Infirmary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Thexton, of 4, Lambert Road, Lancaster, was the bride at St. Luke’s Church, Skerton, on Saturday, of Mr. Brian Douglas Sandford,  a master at Balmoral School, Morecambe, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Sandford of 89, Torrisholme Road, Lancaster.

The bride, a gold medallist at the Leeds General Infirmary, was educated at Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School. She has been a member of the Leeds Infirmary chapel choir.

The bridegroom, who was educated at Lancaster Royal Grammar School and Durham University where he took his BA, is group scoutmaster of the 24th Lancaster Boy Scouts (St. Chad’s). He is secretary of the St. Chad’s Church committee, a member of the Parochial Church Council, a member of the Lancaster and District Boy Scouts Association executive committee, a teacher at St. Chad’s Sunday School and a member of the Vale of Lune Rugby Club.
