What is Scout Post?
Scout Post is a scheme that offers the public of Lancaster, Morecambe, Carnforth and surrounding villages an opportunity to send Christmas Cards at a competitive cost It has been in operation in the District for many years.
How the scheme works
Groups involved are issued stamps to sell in the area where they do their Scouting and where they will deliver to. Stamps are sold by retail outlets etc. and cards are also posted at the same places. Cards must not be posted in Royal Mail postboxes. Stamps go on sale from mid November until early December. During this period cards are collected from the outlets and taken to the central sorting Scout HQ.
At the very end of the operation unsold stamps are returned to the organiser. Each group receives a donation depending on the number of cards handled.
